The artwork was produced by Jenna Burchell in 2017. She gathered numerous fragmented volcanic rocks and restored them with golden seams. The gold functioned as a sensor for human interaction. Duck Run at Vergenoegd Low
The outbuildings of this exquisite Cape Dutch farmstead are dated to the 1600s, while the gable of the main house is inscribed with the year 1770. More than 1,000 ducks inhabit the vines. Daily, at 9 AM and 12 AM (as of 2025), the ducks are exercised throughout the ancient edifices and wine tasting region, providing tourists the opportunity to observe and photograph them. The gable is arguably the deciding feature of Cape Dutch architecture and the only building to be regarded as Cape Dutch
despite not having one, is the historic house at Uiterwyk. This gable is one of the earliest and the profile has a simple

THATCH ROOFS

WHITE WALLS
The walls were almost always painted white, because of the availability of lime from sea shells. CURVED ENTRANCE GATES
The entrance to the farm needed to be marked and the natural tendency was to create two matching walls. These became an opportunity for architectural expression. BELL TOWERS
